The Antarctic Peninsula is made up of the northern end of the Transantarctic Mountains, where they end in the Weddell Sea, part of the Antarctic Ocean, south of South America. Palmer Station is the largest US base on the so called peninsula side of Antarctica, located on Anvers Island near the peninsula and just north of the antarctic circle. The area has a maritime climate, and the mountains that rise from the sea are covered with snow and glaciers. The icy channels through the mountains are choked with icebergs and the scenery is spectacular. While working in Antarctica for the United States Antarctic Program and as a member of the National Science Foundation Antarctic Artist and Writers Program David captures the images in a wonderfully realistic manner, viewers may feel as if they have been there themselves. In this gallery you can view many of David's oil landscape paintings of the Antarctic Peninsula.
